Mik Arts Mik Goben was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth but I do believe there was a “Pencil” or Paint brush in her hand. As a young child, from Kentucky, then off to Canada, she could always be found drawing. MIK was drawing portraits of her pets and neighbors. What she call's- LIFE- happened to her,she put them down for many years, later, she and her pencil and brush are again “best friends.” MIK says she draws and paints today because she can’t think of anything else she would rather do…and she will also tell you that her artistic talent is a gift from God! Having little formal education in the field of art, ( a few college courses and A.S.)she has nurtured her talent by studying with well known pencil artists, and Oil Painters, charcoal portraits, for drawing techniques in portraiture and still life using carbon, charcoal, and graphite….her classes with local artist and workshops, selling her portraits to well known government officials and locals was a turning point in her career as an artist. MIK began exhibiting her Paintings again in the spring of 2007 and continues to exhibit at juried art shows during the spring and summer months…while devoting the winter months to her commissioned works and private showings. She does both still life and portraiture, the latter being her true passion. She specializes in black and white art,and Classical . Where some would consider the pencil only for the preliminary sketch, MIK takes her drawings to the next level by creating complete and detailed dramatic works of art. To quote MIK directly, ” I believe art is about interpretation, and creating art is about taking the viewer to another place or time. Art tells us a story. With being an aspie,in case you do not know what that is, Mik Has Aspergers. I believe my drawings allow the viewer to see the color of their own imaginations. Recent accomplishment- My work Titled 'LIFE' has been chosen for the Annual Glaad Art Auction in New York,NY. of competition:WorkingT More
